Music is part of me, I'm incomplete without it- OYEYEMI
When and how did you start music?
I had the vision of being in the music industry
around 2009, but I was discovered in 2010 by my neighbours who watched
freestyle performance while they were playing "monkey pole" football match
in my area. I could remembered the freestyle brought me so much glory to
the extent that the whole neighbourhood started calling me "Dablue" because
I flow in yoruba. Ever since then music has became the part of me that no
one can ever take away from me. I later met with an upcoming act "T Flow"
who introduced me to my present producer "Makeitshine" and I recorded my
first ever track in 2012.
What influence your lyrics or what inspires you
to write?
God, also what I want to be or what I see myself
becoming. As I'm talking to you now a lyric can just jam my brain and I
will just note it in my mind or type it on my phone for instance I wrote
the chorus to my first recorded track in the examination hall also like
half of the lyrics my track "Dreams" was composed in the toilet. Listening
to legends like 2pac, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G also inspired my writing.
What difference are you out to make in the music
industry?
Just want people to know the value of good music.
My music should be outstanding. I see everyone diverting to shaku shaku but
I'm charge with responsibility of making good music, I don't follow the
crowd. Main difference is to balance the gap between Noise and Good Music.
Let's get to the industry first
What has stardom done to you?
Fame is expensive and for your dick to survive
there are some prices you have to pay. People I don't know now know me.
Also I don't get girls I truly love because they always think I just want
to play them and have my way. No offence it's part of the price you pay 😂
Now that you are fast becoming popular, how have
you been coping with the female fans?
Women are the salt of the world. Hence I treat
them nice in order to avoid distraction
Who are the artistes or producers you are looking
forward to work with?
I will be so glad if I'm chanced to work with
great act like Eva, Sound Sultan, Wizkid, Olamide, Simi. Producers like
Legendarybeatz, Bbanks, KillerTunes.
Also working with international artistes like Eminem, Lady Gaga, Chris
Brown, Bruno Mars, Ed sheeran, Skylar grey will be a dream come through.
What’s your take on many new music that lacks
messages that now filled the airwaves?
My take is to keep my mouth shut. But I will say
every song have it own message it pass, In Nigeria even if your music
portray bad message people are more concern with the Beat it has. Ariwo ko
ni music
What’s the passion that drives you?
Music is part of me, I'm incomplete without it. Is
like you cooking a white rice without stew. If I no make am it is shame on
me cos I grt so many goons wey go put the blame on me
What are you currently working on?
Now have been busy in the studio recording songs
because we don't know what the next hit will be. Also we planning on a
video shoot soon
So how far are you planning to take your career?
Hmmm. Ori lo mo oo (God's knows the best). All I
just want to do now is to put in work and leave everything to God the
author and the finisher of our faith
Your advice for budding artistes.
Prayer and hard work is the key
